Amish Wedding

A good friend from work got married this week. It was my first Amish wedding. It was fascinating and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Even down to the hard benches we sat on for the ceremony. 
A lot of us waitresses and past waitresses were servers for lunch and supper. We literally laughed all day.
Somehow, no matter how different we are, working together has made us all close friends.
Aren't the colors pretty?
Huge thank you to my friend Lynn for sewing this dress for me. 
Sadly I wasn't able to sneak a picture of the bride as she was surrounded by people all day.

I thought it would be fun to do a post on being a waitress. I wish I could say that I wrote all of these. I didn't. I just renovated an article I recently read to fit my own experience.  So here goes: 20 things about a server: 1.  Your weekends start on Sundays. And ends on Sunday too. You try squeezing an entire weekend in one day. Not easy. 2.   Wanting it to be busy but also wanting it to be soooo sloooow. This group of people are the best. We got to hang out all weekend. (They even came to visit me at work. Bless their hearts.)  :: Out for a little Sunday drive. This is how we roll. (Also how we get the neighbors to look.) ::  :: We look normal... ::  ::...but we aren't...::  ::Want to know how you almost get kicked out of the Walmart parking lot??? Try doing this sort of thing in front of the store. ::   Yup. It was a blast. Some of things we did: Volley ball (until we were sick of it) Ice cream (yum!) Do NOT sit on TOP of the picnic tables. It makes the workers grumpy. (Who knew that was against the rules?) Rides in my new car (Isn't he adorable?) The guys found a new way of making the tires squeal. Lift the car from the back, rev it up and drop it. It works!!! The telling of lots of lame jokes ('Shut up turkey, I know what I'm doing.') Ouvrir - To Start, Begin

Our first evening in Paris and we were starving. On the reccomendation of the woman who showed us our apartment, we made our way to a small restaurant. (Walking, because who would EVER try to drive in this city?! I can't tell your how crazy the traffic is!!! Do you know how hard it is to communicate when you can only understand "oui", so that word gets repeated over and over with nods and pointing and smiles. Eventually, with the help of several people who knew some broken English, we ordered some food and water.  Ahhh...it was so good to eat. We had boeuf à la Bourguignonne , potatoes (imagine that I said that with an accent), French fries (REAL ones, because this IS France after all), some sort of seafood in shells. Janel ordered this and I tried them to be adventurous. Which here means; I closed my eyes, gagged and swallowed. Let me tell you, American's version of French bread is NOT spot-on.
