The Rest Of January

Our good friend Kaylee came all the way from Vermont for a 2 week stay. Kaylee and I are both a bit...blonde...so we had some great times and adventures together.
~ Taking Josh's car to get new tires...ok, so we didn't know what kind of car it was. We just told the tire guys that it was the purple one that was parked crooked.
~ Singing LOUDLY and off tune with our favorite songs. You know, sometimes those songs get the lyrics wrong. But we sang them right. =)
~ Watching movies and laughing hysterically over scenes while our poor sisters sit there blankly. Apparently they aren't quite up to our level of humor.
~ Made two dresses - one in 4hrs & one in 3hrs....Ok. Well, Kaylee made them. She can't stand the way I sew. And I was more then happy to keep her amused and be there for the fittings. Thanks, Kaylee, I love the dress!!! (Because she wasn't there to rescue it in time, the 1st dress has a rather LARGE neck.)
~ Went shopping together several times...and we could always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS count on waiting for Kaylee. She is an extremely slow shopper. ;)

:: Aud, Marvin, Shan and I went to NC for a friend's wedding the other weekend. We can say we truly risked our lives for it. The roads were horrible and we ended up doing about 3 donuts all over a 3 lane highway. ::
 
 :: We got to meet and see a lot of people we have been 'stalking' for years. ::
 :: And we got to go to this quaint little Andy Griffith museum. The ticket lady was just like out of a movie. With the complete Southern accent. Just listening to her made me automatically start talking back in the same drawl. ::
 
 :: A lovely friend from New York (Heather) came down with some other friends and surprised me. I love happy surprises like that!!! ::
 :: My entire family (plus the dating people and Josh, who is basically family) went out to eat together; a once a year experience. 19 of us!!! Having just started working as a dishwasher at a restaurant, I can sympathise with the kitchen workers. ::

I thought it would be fun to do a post on being a waitress. I wish I could say that I wrote all of these. I didn't. I just renovated an article I recently read to fit my own experience.  So here goes: 20 things about a server: 1.  Your weekends start on Sundays. And ends on Sunday too. You try squeezing an entire weekend in one day. Not easy. 2.   Wanting it to be busy but also wanting it to be soooo sloooow. Get busy and make money that you desperately need, or stay slow and get cut in time to have a social life? DECISIONS ARE HARD. 3.  People who switch tables a hundred times. ‘This one is too dark. That one is too bright. This one is too secluded. That one is too loud.’ This table will take up   maybe   45-90 minutes of your life. You are not Goldilocks. Please SIT DOWN! 4.  Being ignored after saying hello to a table. Gotta love those people who think that drinks, food, and requests for lemon slice

This group of people are the best. We got to hang out all weekend. (They even came to visit me at work. Bless their hearts.)  :: Out for a little Sunday drive. This is how we roll. (Also how we get the neighbors to look.) ::  :: We look normal... ::  ::...but we aren't...::  ::Want to know how you almost get kicked out of the Walmart parking lot??? Try doing this sort of thing in front of the store. ::   Yup. It was a blast. Some of things we did: Volley ball (until we were sick of it) Ice cream (yum!) Do NOT sit on TOP of the picnic tables. It makes the workers grumpy. (Who knew that was against the rules?) Rides in my new car (Isn't he adorable?) The guys found a new way of making the tires squeal. Lift the car from the back, rev it up and drop it. It works!!! The telling of lots of lame jokes ('Shut up turkey, I know what I'm doing.') Amish Wedding

A good friend from work got married this week. It was my first Amish wedding. It was fascinating and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Even down to the hard benches we sat on for the ceremony.  A lot of us waitresses and past waitresses were servers for lunch and supper. We literally laughed all day. Somehow, no matter how different we are, working together has made us all close friends. Aren't the colors pretty? Huge thank you to my friend Lynn for sewing this dress for me.  Sadly I wasn't able to sneak a picture of the bride as she was surrounded by people all day.
